Yesterday morning I went to a chamber event with Andy Phillips, the Vice Chair of Coastal 3000, presenting what is to be the Brand for our area – The Beach. The idea is for business and community leaders to team up and create a brand for our area to boost national awareness of our pristine beaches.
Per the brochure given, Coastal 3000’s initiatives include:
- Creating an internationally recognized branded destination to ensure the long-term economic growth of our region.
- Being a catalyst for bridging the geographic, political and economic boundaries that have fractured marketing efforts in our region and limited our potential.
- Educating key regional stakeholders and persuading them to support regional brand-building efforts.
- Working cooperatively to attract better, more competitive air service to our region.
Andy said the efforts are not undermine the Chambers, TDC’s, or CVB’s but to supplement their efforts to help grown our area, utilizing their influence as business leaders.
There is a website up, but they are in the process of launching a new one that should be live late April.
They will be doing national advertising in areas that are not as likely to know about our beaches and offer varying participation levels for local businesses.
