Dinner at Bootleg Barbeque, and it rocked (review)

Last night, my wife and I had dinner at Bootleg Barbeque. I have to say, it wasn’t our first choice, but I’m very glad we had the opportunity to eat there, it was great. Actually, great was an understatement.

One of the things that excited us about Pier Park, is that it is an all inclusive date. We got their early for our movie, walked up and down the boardwalk, and came back to eat at Camile’s Sidewalk Cafe, but to our surprise, they closed at 7. I’m not very familiar with them, but it would seem that on a Friday night, they would be leaving some business on the table by closing so early.

We decided to go next door to Bootleg. I got the pulled pork sandwich and my wife got the Smokin’ Tuna Dip. I’m a sucker for a good pulled pork sandwich, and it isn’t a hard sandwich to make good, but this one rocked, and I’m not just being nice. I literally had this great feeling of satisfaction on the very first bite. I’m not sure what the bread was that they used, whether they made it, or brought it in from somewhere else, but whatever the case, it definitely made the sandwich. The whole package was just so tasty.

The side I chose was their beer-battered onion rings. They were unbelievable. I wish the order came with more, but they were delicious; I didn’t even want ketchup to supplement the flavor.

The Smokin’ Tuna Dip that my wife had was delicious as well. It was all mixed with their signature dressing and was served with these cracker/wafers that added to the package. The presentation was beautiful.

Our waitress was very nice, and the owner, Josh Daugherty was very professional.  The setting was cool 50’s Rock-a-billie.  The food came in sweet tin platters and the drinks in cool glass jars.

With the two meals and one soda, the price was just at $21. A little more than I wanted to spend, but well worth the money. I will definitely eat their again.

They do to go orders and I was told by the owner that if we call ahead, he’d have it ready when we got there.  They also do Party Feasts with portions of 8 to 10 people and 18 to 20 people.

They are open from 11am 9pm every day.  Their number is 850-236-9683.

Thanks Josh for the great meal, we will be back again.

Just had lunch today at Bootleg Barbeque. The pulled pork sandwich was great with a large portion of very tender pork that really didn’t even need any bbq sauce. The onion rings that I had for a side were probably the best onion rings I have ever had. They were great!
I love the atmosphere here, with the retro pictures and the great music! This will definately be high on my restaurants to dine at.
