Freezing Weather Blows Through Panama City Beach

Well, not freezing, literally, but still the weather is pretty darn cold, for Floridians, at least.  With highs in the lower 60’s over the weekend with a wind chill of mid-50’s, Panama City Beach natives were bundled up in their sweatshirts, sweaters and turtlenecks shivering as they walked the packed streets of Pier Park.  I went to Five Guys Burgers twice (I know, I’m an addict) and both times I waited in a fairly decent line.

Many of you may have noticed my tweets talking about the cold weather, please note the sarcasm in knowing that the weather we have in Florida is never actually cold, but us Floridians description of cold is only reflective of the relativity of the temperature change.  Keep in mind that just the weekend prior, the very weekend of the Panama City Beach Seafood Wine and Music Festival, we had highs in the mid 90’s with a heat index on Saturday that exceeded 100 degrees.

This morning when I arose it was a crisp 44 outside that rose quickly to 47 now at the time of my writing (8:18 am).  My kids were shivering, begging me to turn on the heat in the car.  We’re expected to get up to 69 this afternoon with lows to gradually rise all week back into the mid 60’s.  The fall is definitely here, but the warm weather isn’t totally gone just yet.  Of course, I have warm weather ordered for this weekends Kayak fishing trip with Sunjammers.

When I opened this I could not believe my eyes! Do you not remember what cold is? Well I guess your blood really does thin out in Florida. I hope that you warm up soon! Love, Mom
