The outside is near complete, the parking lot is prepped for paving and the interior is being put together right now – Olive Garden in Pier Park on Panama City Beach is about to open.

The new Olive Garden is scheduled to begin hiring on August 13th with the goal to open on the 1st of September.

Their hours will be from 4 to 10 pm Sunday through Thursday and 4 to 11 pm on Friday and Saturday.

For those of you that are not familiar with Olive Garden, they feature an Italian cuisine and are famous for the slogan, “When you’re here, you’re family.”

Anyone have any insight as to why they are not going to be open for lunch? I just double checked that Panama City, Destin, and Ft. Walton Beach are still open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week.

I can imagine that one of the reasons they will not open for lunch is that there are not many businesses in the area, the prime market for a lunch crowd. There are lots of other options for leisure lunchers, but the business crowds are too far away (Thomas Drive area mainly) for a strong lunch business. Just a guess…
