Strategic Planning Session for new Panama City Beach web site

by January 5, 2009 • 2 comments

The Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Tourist Development Council has retained the services of Jennifer Barbee Inc. to build the new web site.  Thursday, January 8th from 1 to 3 pm a public meeting will be held at the Bay Point Marriott with representatives from JB Inc. and YPartnership to solicit public input.

I’ve added this to the calendar in the sidebar.

You can be sure I’ll be there.

Jason –
In looking over the post about spring break, Y partnership, MTV, marketing, plans and so forth, it finally hit me.

We are fighting over crumbs. We should be sharing a feast.

We have exactly ONE bed tax collector in the county.
I think she does a great job with what she has been given. She needs and should have help.

I have previously discussed the bed tax situation regarding our student labor. That missing revenue in itself is enough to justify another full time collector. Just policing that revenue may also have / provide for other benefits that are badly needed.
(e.g.: imagine “spring break” living next
to you for nine months out of the year…)

I have to wonder if we really hae any idea how much TDT revenue we are failing to collect.

Maybe we should find out…somehow.

Enjoy all the postings & comments on this site! Thanks for keeping us informed….But do you really think another employee is the answer for collection of tax revenue for TDC? As I already collect & pay taxes required from the state of Florida, Bay County, & TDC, I would think it would benefit all agencies to come together with their reporting.

I doubt Bay County, PCB, or other taxing authorities are collecting anywhere near funds that should be funding our improvements.
