Softball and Baseball Tournaments at Frank Brown Park in Panama City Beach Strategies for Finding the Best Accommodations

With over 200 acres dedicated to outdoor recreation — including nine softball and baseball fields – it’s no surprise that Frank Brown Park in beautiful Panama City Beach, Florida hosts numerous tournaments. Finding suitable, affordable accommodations for your team, however, requires a touch of finesse and a bit of local knowledge.
As stunning as the most beautiful of any tropical islands, Panama City Beach offers sugar-white sand beaches and crystalline emerald waters that rival the beauty of the Caribbean. Frommer’s, a bestselling American travel guide, named the Florida panhandle one the best vacation destinations. The temperate breezes, lush tropical landscaping, and gentle surf lure vacationers from across the globe, so it’s critical to book your accommodations as soon as you know your team’s tournament dates.
One of the most common ways to go about booking your reservations for a team is to use an online hotel reservation site. While this may seem to be the simplest solution, it will likely add significantly to your budget in the long run: athletes are big eaters, and eating out every day gets expensive in a hurry.
A better solution is perhaps one of the most overlooked – book directly from a condominium owners’ co-operative. Not only will you have more bargaining power, but staying in a modern condominium with a full kitchen allows you to prepare your own meals.
As members of one of these co-ops, we understand the importance of accommodating sports teams and their families, and we know you deserve the best rates available. Some of our condominiums can accommodate up to eight guests comfortably.
In fact, athletes and sports teams are our preferred guests, because they bring with them a sense of organization, order, and respect. The members are accustomed to following rules and conducting themselves in a sportsmanlike manner. Perhaps that’s why sports teams and their families generally leave their rental units in better shape when they depart than most other groups.
Most members of our co-op use vacation-by-owner sites on the internet. Such sites are easy to find and are generally user-friendly. We prefer Vacation Rentals by Owner (VRBO), and HomeAway, which owns VRBO. The king of sites, VRBO is one of the most popular. We like its user interface and the fact that it lists individual condos within the same resort on the same page, making your search much easier. In addition, you need to fill out your information only once, and then you can send your request to several condos within the same resort fairly quickly.
Here’s a little-known trick to help save a blow to your pocketbook: always mention that you’re looking for lodging for a sports tournament team and that you would appreciate a discount. Most owners are quick to accommodate your request. Some sites offer a Comments section where you can make your request. Regardless, don’t hesitate to mention that you’re looking for a discount when you contact the owner.
You may receive numerous offers with prices that are all over the board. When you respond to owners, don’t be timid about informing them about better rates you may have been offered for similar condos, and ask again if they’re willing to give you a discount.
In Panama City Beach, where you’ll find very few motel rooms, condos are king; you’re right on the beach, close to major attractions, and you’ll find that the prices can’t be beat, especially for Saturday-to-Saturday bookings.
Panama City Beach treasures its visitors and makes every effort to make their stay comfortable, fun and easy. Several trolley lines service the entire beach area, Pier Park, and Frank Brown Park for the nominal fee of $1.25, offering you an alternative to carpooling to the tournament. It also offers team members the freedom of exploring the entire beach area.
You’ll soon find that Panama City Beach comprises many facets, from plush accommodations and fine dining, to more family-oriented venues and casual beach eateries. In your free time between tournament plays, you’ll discover adventures galore awaiting: everything to do in, on, under, above and around the water – in short, you’re sure to find summer fun in a piece of paradise that promises memories to last a lifetime.
As soon as you know the dates of your team’s tournament, get online and book your accommodations as soon as possible for the best deals.
